he project includes the extension of 100-450mm-diameter glass reinforced epoxy (GRE) water transmission pipes at an estimated cost of $45mn (AED 167mn).
Linking different parts of Dubai, the project is part of DEWA’s strategy to increase the efficiency and reliability of its water networks, the company said in a statement.
The project is proceeding as per the planned schedule and is expected to be completed within a year, it added.
DEWA managing director and chief executive Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said the main objective of the project was to improve water transmission networks in new areas, and upgrade the existing network to cut water losses.
“This is being done by renovating the network, replacing old connections to houses, increasing operational efficiency, strengthening the water supply network, and increasing water flow capacity to meet sharp demand for water and contribute to the sustainable development of Dubai,” he added.
